From observing to participating: growing within BigBrother

Bo started as an intern at BigBrother and has since become a key player within the Support team. In this interview, she talks about her growth, challenges and reasons to feel comfortable here.

When Bo started her internship at BigBrother, she had no idea what a wall socket was. Now she supervises colleagues, troubleshoots complex security systems and monitors helpdesk staffing levels. “I’ve learned so much, both technically and personally. While I was a bit shy at first, I now dare to give my opinion and talk to colleagues.”

Bo studied International Business, specialising in Organisation and Change. She joined BigBrother through a former fellow student. She began working in the project team, and later she moved on to the helpdesk. “In Projects, I sometimes had difficulty navigating between customers, suppliers, and systems. Now, in Services, I feel more comfortable: I love the direct customer contact.”

“what i get from this company? trust. freedom. and responsibility. that can be tough at times, but it’s also very rewarding.”

The bar is set high at BigBrother. “If you don’t perform well, you won’t get away with it for long. But if you need help, it’s always there.” That’s no problem for Bo. “I’m a perfectionist, so I love the challenge. You have to stay sharp – sometimes people’s lives are at stake.”

What she likes best about her job? “The variety. The customers I deal with are both managers and cashiers. Every customer request is different, which makes the work interesting.” Another advantage for Bo is the collegiality. “I also socialise with some of my colleagues outside work. That gives me a lot of satisfaction too.”

Bo describes the culture at BigBrother as informal, innovative and caring. “You can be yourself here. And if something is bothering you, you can always get it off your chest.” Training for new employees, appraisal interviews and career development opportunities: for Bo, these are valuable assets to grow both yourself and the business.
