Dennis started as an intern and worked his way up to Sales Executive at BigBrother. In this interview, he talks about his career, corporate culture and the dynamics of the security industry.
When Dennis applied for an internship, he couldn’t have imagined that one day he would play a leading role in our international sales team. “Still a student at the time, I’d heard good things about the company from a friend. BigBrother was smaller back then, but its ambitions were not: we started small, but thought big.”
Dennis has now been with the company for thirteen years. He helped to grow it internationally, worked his way up from support to sales, and developed his own sales methodology together with managing director Aart van Rooijen. “BigBrother sets the bar high. I can relate to that. Being challenged keeps the job exciting.”
He describes the BigBrother culture as open, direct and ambitious. “We don’t beat around the bush. You always know where you stand. That only works if you speak your mind and accept feedback. Not everyone handles that well, but those who persevere will grow.””
“you shape the role you play. that’s what makes working at bigbrother unique.”

According to Dennis, there are plenty of opportunities to seize. “You have to be proactive and pave your own path. If you really want something, you have to go for it yourself. But you get the trust and opportunity to do so.”
Apart from the job, he also likes the atmosphere in the office. “We get along really well. Many colleagues have been working here for years. When you spend five days a week together, you automatically form a bond. In an informal way, without hierarchy. That’s not just sweet talk … it’s really true!”
BigBrother focuses on security, innovation and growth. “Half of our projects involve securing people and property. The other half revolves around innovation. That’s what makes the work so interesting: we’re in a niche market that is constantly changing.”
